Tras el (merecido) último puesto de España en Eurovisión 2017, la cadena española TVE tuvo que idear una nueva estrategia para seleccionar a su representante en el concurso de Lisboa de este año. Optaron por recuperar el concurso de talentos Operación Triunfo que utilizaron como final nacional entre 2002 y 2004, con tres top 10 como resultado. Este año, la pareja real Alfred y Amaia ganó el concurso con su dúo ‘Tu Canción’. ¿Salvarán a España de otro fracaso en Eurovisión?
Parece que España se ha inspirado en la victoria de su país vecino, Portugal, el año pasado. Ahora envían una balada que también trae las vibraciones románticas del pasado. Alfred tiene incluso algunos “salvadoreñismos” en su voz. Sin embargo, la diferencia es que la actuación de Salvador Sobral se consideró muy sentida, mientras que la de Alfred y Amaia podría parecer kitsch. Dicho esto, parece que hay mercado para su dúo de amor ‘Tu Canción’. El tema alcanzó inmediatamente el número 1 de la lista española de iTunes tras su lanzamiento y se convirtió en un éxito decente después. España ha estado en el top 5 de las apuestas de Eurovisión desde que ‘Tu Canción’ fue seleccionada.

Al ser España miembro del “Big Five”, la canción pasó automáticamente a la final, celebrada el 12 de mayo de 2018 en Lisboa (Portugal)[13][14] Fue la segunda canción interpretada[15] Quedó en vigésimo tercer lugar de los 26 países participantes con 61 puntos: 43 de los jurados profesionales y 18 del televoto.[3]
El vídeo oficial de la canción, dirigido por Gus Carballo, se rodó en febrero de 2018 en unos estudios de Madrid. El vídeo se estrenó el 9 de marzo de 2018 en una emisión especial en horario de máxima audiencia en La 1, presentada por Roberto Leal[23][24].
