I had been struggling with the issue for several days. Windows Update had downloaded the critical updates without any problems, but when I started the installation process, a message popped up indicating that the updates could not be installed correctly. When I shut down the computer, I got the typical warning that updates were pending, clicked on the Shutdown button and the installation process started. The computer would shut down after a few seconds and the updates, as before, remained uninstalled.

I searched and searched and searched. I tried several of the methods suggested in different forums and Internet pages, such as the one that indicated to delete the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder inside Windows. But nothing, when I went back to Windows Update, the download process started but the same error occurred during the installation.

I analyzed the WindowsUpdate.log document and checked where the cause of the error was. I saw that it was in the executable wuauclt.exe, which is responsible for automatic updates. Many of the problems that arise in the executables are due to the fact that they do not have access to some of the DLL libraries necessary for its operation. What did I do?

Generally, Windows 10 is supposed to always update without problems, but there are times when something happens and despite having activated Windows you get an error that is not always fully understood.

Sometimes it is enough to turn off and turn on again, but sometimes it is a recurring error. That is why we are going to talk about the most common problems and we will explain step by step the procedure to solve each one of them.

The method that is always recommended to update Windows 10 is through Windows Update. However, this tool does not always work correctly, and sometimes you may encounter different errors during the installation.
