The thermal social voucher is a benefit for vulnerable families who cannot afford to pay the energy costs of hot water, cooking and heating. We tell you how to apply for it, its requirements and the amount you will receive.

This benefit was promoted in 2018 and is available from 2019 for families at risk of energy poverty. It is regulated by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and is granted in a complementary way to the bono social de luz.

A total of 6 different geographical zones are established: Alpha, A, B, C, D and E. The points located in the alpha zone will receive a lower amount, while those belonging to the E zone will receive a higher subsidy.

Unlike the bono social de luz, in order to enjoy the bono social térmico it is not necessary to apply for this aid. All users who have been granted the bono social eléctrico will be eligible for this benefit.

The beneficiaries of this aid will receive a notification from the Ministry of Ecological Transition at their homes. In it, they will be informed that as a beneficiary of the bono social de luz they are entitled to receive the bono social térmico aid.

New measures for vulnerable consumers – October 2021 The Government has approved new measures to help vulnerable consumers. These measures are aimed at mitigating the effects of the increase in electricity and gas prices and will be in force from October 2021.

The Bonos Social Térmico (BST) is a direct aid to vulnerable consumers aimed at compensating the costs of energy supply for thermal uses, such as heating, domestic hot water or cooking.

Its regulation is established in Royal Decree-Law 15/2018, of October 5, on urgent measures for energy transition and consumer protection. The Bono Social Térmico is managed by the Junta de Castilla y León and is paid from the budget of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

The amount of the aid for the citizens of Castilla y León depending on the geographical area and the consideration of vulnerable, severely vulnerable, risk of social exclusion ranges between €67.56 and €123.94. The amount depends on the degree of vulnerability of the consumer and the climatic zone in which their habitual residence is located.

The Government is working to alleviate the impact caused by the price of energy. For this reason, it has approved the so-called ‘Bono Social Térmico’, which is a new aid package amounting to 90 euros.

This is how the Bono Social Térmico is configured, approved in art. 5 of Royal Decree-Law 15/2018, of October 5, aimed at a specific sector of the population that will have to meet a series of requirements to be able to apply for and receive this aid.

Consumers will have to meet a series of requirements to be able to access the collection of this benefit. Being a beneficiary of the Bono Social Eléctrico, having contradicted the PVPC tariff and having an annual income of less than eleven thousand euros are some of the requirements.

This measure may be requested through the website of the Ministry for Ecological Transition. On the other hand, the Ministry’s website provides a section explaining the amount to be received according to a number of indicators such as climate zone (by municipality and province) and consideration.
