In times where politics is very present, series are being made that choose to talk about the current situation taking advantage of the possibilities offered by science fiction.  Uchrony is one of the subgenres used in some television series and, basically, they are stories set in a past that could have happened, as in the case of The Plot Against America.

In The Man in the High Castle, based on a book by Philip K. Dick, the series was based on the defeat of the Allied side in World War II and had the United States divided into three zones: Japanese, neutral and German. In The Plot Against America, Charles Lindbergh defeats Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1940 election.

In The Plot Against America, Lindbergh becomes president of the United States and implements fascist policies. The story is told mainly from the perspective of a Jewish family from New Jersey and their daily life in a country where fear and violence have been implanted.

Kevin Hart takes a break from his usual comedic registers to show us a more dramatic side in this thriller in which he plays Kid, a famous comedian who returns to visit his hometown and his older brother Carlton, played by Wesley Snipes. But after one dangerous night, Kid is shaken to the core when he is faced with a life-or-death situation that could change his entire life and reputation. The miniseries came from the mind of Eric Newman, the creator of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, and is delivered in seven parts.

For those who need a little “guilty pleasure” in their lives, the fourth season of this reality show focusing on a group of top-level real estate brokers in Los Angeles who must deal with both their professional and personal lives is here. Already renewed for a fifth season and with an Emmy nomination under its belt, the series has several spin-offs in the works, with locations in Tampa and Newport Beach.

The Resistance becomes a full-fledged rebellion, fueled by Juliana Crain’s (Davalos) visions of a better world. A new black insurgent movement emerges to fight the forces of Nazism and imperialism. As empires reel, Chief Inspector Takeshi Kido (Joel De La Fuente) will find himself torn between his duty to his country and family ties. Meanwhile, Reichsmarschall John Smith (Rufus Sewell) will be lured into the portal the Nazis have built to another universe and the tantalizing possibility of passing through a gateway to a path never before taken.

You already know that I have my pluses and minuses with the series, giving me the feeling that Frank Spotnitz’s creation was stretched too thin and the potential of its premise was diluted as the series dragged on. It’s true that the construction of this world is not easy and it’s a great job, but at a plot level it leaves you wanting more.
