“With the solution they now propose, they ensure that its economic sustainability is guaranteed in current and future times and also contributes to maintaining the historical character that Gran Vía has as a focus of culture and economic vitality,” details the plan, which also highlights the fact that the entrance to the cinema-theater is located at the rear of the triangle formed by the building with Tudescos and Miguel Moya streets, a degraded space despite its exceptional location. “Contributing to this degradation of the space surrounding the premises of the area is the fact that the successive interventions that have been carried out on them have put an end to their initial diaphanous and bustling appearance, closing the large arcades and all the entrances to the building that originally formed it”, it points out and cites the “barrier effect” created between the Gran Vía and its adjacent spaces.

Madrid has finally approved this Tuesday the special plan to rehabilitate the Palacio de la Prensa and recover the “use, morphology and spirit” of this building, in which the capacity will be expanded and its use as a cinema and multipurpose theater will be enhanced.
The proposal has come to the plenary from the delegation of Urban Development, whose responsible councilman, Mariano Fuentes, explained that it will recover the original morphology of the building, in compliance with the General Plan of Urban Planning and its declaration as a Property of Heritage Interest (BIP).
The document signed authorizes the restructuring of the interior space, which is currently made up of cinemas, mini-cinemas and the Palacio de la Prensa discotheque, and recovers the façade and the chamfer between Miguel Moya and Tudescos streets.
