Música de circo

Había una vez un circo es una película de comedia musical argentina de 1972 dirigida por Enrique Carreras, escrita por Carreras y Abel Santacruz, y protagonizada por Gaby, Fofó y Miliki, del trío de payasos españoles Los Payasos de la Tele.[1] La música fue compuesta por Tito Ribero.[2]

Una niña llamada Andrés cae enferma, pero tiene muchas ganas de ir al circo. Su padre decide invitar a los artistas del circo a su casa para que hagan sentir mejor a su hija. El hombre es viudo y piensa casarse con Carla. Andrea no quiere que se case con ella porque sabe que a la mujer sólo le interesa su dinero. La chica se escapa de casa en señal de protesta y su padre decide no casarse. Sin embargo, es secuestrada por el hermano de Carla que exige un rescate. Tres payasos, Gaby, Fofó y Miliki, deciden rescatar a la chica.

Spears shot the music video for the single under the direction of Francis Lawrence, who in 2001 directed her clip for “I’m a Slave 4 U”. In the video for “Circus”, the artist sings and performs provocative choreography in a circus setting. Since the filming involved trained animals, the pro-animal organization PETA strongly criticized the singer. Despite the controversy, the clip was well received by specialists. In particular, Rolling Stone called it one of Spears’ most literal videos. In turn, the audience gave it millions of views on the Internet and the MTV Video Music Awards 2009 nominated it in five technical categories.

Dr. Luke, Benny Blanco and Claude Kelly wrote “Circus”, with the former two producing it.[1] Dr. Luke and Kelly were initially approached by Jive Records to work on a track for Spears’ sixth studio album. In this regard, Kelly revealed:

“I’m very visual and perceptive, so I imagine the scene in the movie or video that’s playing. That’s certainly what happened with Britney Spears’ Circus album. I was on a plane to Los Angeles to write the song [and that’s when] the melody and the concept hit me simultaneously. Her life could be compared to a circus, so [the line] came to mind: “All eyes on me in the center of the ring, just like a circus” – “All eyes on me in the center of the ring, just like a circus.”[2]
